Ecology: Biotroph; lichenicolous, endosubstratic; growing on calciferous rock. Host or Phorophyte Taxonomy: Physcia caesia, Ph. caesia var. rhaetica, Ph. dubia.

Lichen Photobionts: Primary photobiont absent.

Thallus: Indistinct (vegetative hyphae brown).

Medulla: Iodine reaction in Lugol's solution negative.

Reproduction Strategy: With sexual (and possible asexual) stages. Ascocarps: Perithecioid, globose or ovoid, forming inside the thallus or mycelium of the host, not emerging, 30-80 µm wide, 40-70 µm high, with a black surface. Wall: Not carbonized. Margin: 3-30 µm wide; external filaments absent. Exciple: Not carbonized, dark brown. Periphyses: Absent. Hymenium: Iodine reaction: Lugol’s negative. Interascal Hyphae: Absent (in mature ascomata). Hypothecium: Light brown or pale brown.

Asci: Broadly clavate, distinctly stipitate, 20-40 µm long, 8-14 µm wide; tholus not amyloid; ocular chamber absent or present (at least in young asci); dehiscence bitunicate (fissitunicate); exoascus not amyloid, not hemiamyloid; ascoplasm not dextrinoid.

Ascospores: Not uniseriate, c. 8 per ascus, spores 8 per ascus, ellipsoid, (8)-9-11.4-13-(16) µm long, 3-5.1-7 µm wide, obtuse; septa present, transversally septate, 1-transversally septate; lumina apically enlarged, constricted at the centre; wall thin, laterally constricted where the septum meets the spore wall, remaining hyaline, hyaline, in Lugol's Solution negative, wall not ornamented.

Conidiomata: Absent resp. not observed.

Secondary Metabolites: Not detected.
