Reproduction Strategy: With sexual (and possible asexual) stages. Ascocarps: Perithecioid, globose or subglobose, within the ascocarp disks of the host, not emerging, becoming adnate, sparse, small, 30-45 µm wide, with a dark brown surface. Margin: Brown, 3-7 µm wide. Exciple: Paraplectenchymatous; hyphae 2-7 µm wide, 3.5-5 µm long, brown. Periphyses: Present (7-11 x 1.5-2.5 µm wide). Interascal Hyphae: Present; cells 1-1.5 µm wide. Hypothecium: Pale brown or white.
Asci: Clavate, indistinctly stipitate or distinctly stipitate, 21-23 µm long, 8-10 µm wide; dehiscence bitunicate; ascoplasm dextrinoid.
Ascospores: c. 8 per ascus, spores 8 per ascus, ellipsoid or clavate (subclavate), (7)-7.5-8.6-9.5-(10) µm long, (2)-2.5-2.7-3 µm wide, obtuse; septa present, transversally septate, 1-transversally septate; lumina apically enlarged, constricted at the centre; wall thin, not constricted where the septum meets the spore wall, remaining hyaline, hyaline, in Lugol's Solution positive, wall not ornamented.
