Biogeography: Southern hemispheric. Continent: Australasia (endemic). Checklist records: Australia (W.A., S.A., N.S.W., Vic.and Tas.).

Ecology: Lichenized; saxicolous (scattered); growing under conditions which are wet.

Thallus: Foliose, irregular, lobed; lobes linear (sublinear-elongate), imbricate (barely imbricate); separate thallus parts 1-2 mm wide. Thallus Size and Differentiation: 5-8 cm in diameter; apex rounded (subrotund). Upper Surface: Lime green (darkening with age), plane, matt; fissurate (irregularly or transversely cracked and eventually areolate; areolae: 1-2.5 mm wide); immaculate; wrinkled (older lobes becoming rugulose); not isidate; not sorediate; not lobulate. Lower Surface: Present, brown (pale tan to brown), dark grey along the margin; attached by holdfasts (adnate to tightly adnate); rhizinate (slender); rhizines moderately abundant or abundant, brown, not branched.

Medulla: White.

Reproduction Strategy: With sexual (and possible asexual) stages. Ascocarps: Apothecioid, soon sessile, 1-4 mm in diam.. Margin: Smooth, distinct (and involute becoming thiner and crenate). Disk: Excavate (concave then undulating), dark brown.

Ascospores: 7-9 µm long, 4-5 µm wide.

Conidiomata: Present (common).

Conidia: Bifusiform; 5-6 µm long; .5 µm wide.

Secondary Metabolites: Present; 4-O-demethylbarbatic acid, barbatic acid, caperatic acid, norstictic acid, salazinic acid, and usnic acid.

Spot Tests: Cortex: KC – medulla: K + yellow changing to red, C –, PD + orange (yellow-orange).

UV-Fluorescence: Upper thallus surface – (negative).
