Biogeography: Continent: Asia-Temperate, Australasia, Europe, Northern America (U.S.A., Arizona, Gila Co.: Nash 9259 (ASU) [on Punctelia subrudecta]), and Southern America.

Ecology: Biotroph; lichenicolous.

Medulla: Iodine reaction in Lugol's solution negative.

Reproduction Strategy: With sexual (and possible asexual) stages. Ascocarps: Apothecioid, forming independently from the host thallus or mycelium, not emerging, becoming adnate (becoming erumped), .2-.3 mm in diam.. Margin: Indistinct. Disk: Plane to weakly convex, brown (to dark brown, mat to shiny). Exciple: Pale brown or white (ca. 15-30(-35) µm thick, composed of more or less isodiametric cells ca. 3.5-6 µm diam.). Epithecium: Apical cells distinctly swollen (apical cells with small brown to dark-brown-pigmented caps, ca. 3-5(-6) µm thick); brown (to pale brown, 15-20 µm tall). Hymenium: 20-45 µm high; pale brown or white. Interascal Hyphae: Scarcely branched (scarcely branched, ca. (1.5-)2-2.5(-3) µm thick), not or scarcely anastomosed (scarcely anastomosed). Hypothecium: Pale brown (hypothecial hyphae lack euamyloid reaction) or white. Hypothecial Extension: Present.

Asci: Dehiscence lecanoralean (48-57 x 15-18 µm).

Ascospores: c. 8 per ascus, ellipsoid (to lemon-shaped), (14)-16-20-(22.5) µm long, (5)-5.5-6.5-(7) µm wide, aciculate; septa absent; wall thin (ca. 0.3-0.5 µm thick), not ornamented (ca. 0.3-0.5 µm thick).

Conidiomata: Absent resp. not observed (not observed).
