Upper Surface: Grey, subconcave, plane, or subconvex, matt, smooth; not fissurate; not foveate; not convoluted; maculate; pruinose, pruina scarce; not pseudocyphellate; not wrinkled; eciliate; without hairs; not isidate; without isidiomorphs; not papillate, sometimes pustulate, pustules regular; not sorediate; soralia broad, white, laminal, erupting from pustules, capitate, erose, fully excavated or slightly excavated, isolated, not confluent with other soralia, soredia farinose; not tuberculate; not lobulate. Lower Surface: Present, black, black in the centre, dark brown along the margin; attached by holdfasts; not cyphellate; not wrinkled; rhizinate; rhizines sparse, with a narrow non-rhizinate margin, black, branched, dichotomously branched; not tuberculate.
