Biogeography: Colline and montane. Continent: Africa and Australasia.

Ecology: Biotroph; lichenized; episubstratic; substrate non-calciferous.

Thallus: Not subdivided parts, areolate (primarily areolate), continuous throughout; lobes angular at the front; separate thallus parts.1-.3 mm thick. Thallus Size and Differentiation: Large; main branches basally not constricted. Thallus Outline: Margin concolorous the thallus centre. Upper Surface: White, lemon (citrine), brownish yellow, or grey, plane; not sorediate; without thalloconidia thalloconidia.

Medulla: Iodine reaction in Lugol's solution negative.

Ascocarps: Soon sessile, slightly constricted at the base, 20-70 per cm², .5-1.3-(2) mm in diam.. Margin: Not flexuose, persistent or excluded, 55-120 µm wide, epruinose. Disk: Plane to strongly convex, black, epruinose, without an umbo. Exciple: Hyphae radiating outwards; 2-3.5 µm wide; grey or pale brown; not inspersed with crystals or inspersed with crystals. Epithecium: Apical cells olive or green, cell pigment HCl+ blue. Hymenium: 60-85 µm high; white; iodine reaction: Lugol’s positive (bluish brown), hemiamyloid. Subhymenium: 12-30 µm high; white. Hypothecium: Brown.

Ascospores: Ellipsoid, (8.5)-13.1-14.3-(20) µm long, (5)-6-6.4-(8) µm wide; wall not ornamented.

Conidia: (6)-7-9-(10) µm long.

Secondary Metabolites: Not detected or present, gyrophoric acid or lecanoric acid (traces).
