Biogeography: Subantarctic (South Shetland Isl.); alpine. Continent: Europe and Antarctica (Prince Edward Isl.).

Ecology: Biotroph; lichenized; endosubstratic or episubstratic (traces); substrate non-calciferous.

Thallus: Not subdivided parts, dispersed throughout and distinctly seperate; lobes angular at the front; separate thallus parts 0-.2 mm thick. Thallus Size and Differentiation: Large or small; main branches basally not constricted. Thallus Outline: Margin concolorous the thallus centre. Upper Surface: Lemon (citrine), plane; not sorediate; without thalloconidia thalloconidia.

Medulla: Iodine reaction in Lugol's solution negative.

Ascocarps: Not emerging, rarely soon sessile to becoming adnate, not constricted at the base, 80-120 per cm², .35-.6-(.7) mm in diam.. Margin: Not flexuose, persistent to excluded, indistinct, 40-70 µm wide, epruinose. Disk: Plane (or concave), black, epruinose, without an umbo. Exciple: Hyphae radiating outwards; grey to brown (often almost black); not inspersed with crystals. Epithecium: Apical cells green to turquoise, cell pigment HCl+ blue. Hymenium: 45-70 µm high; white to pale green; iodine reaction: Lugol’s positive. Subhymenium: 15-25 µm high; white to pale green. Hypothecium: Brown to dark brown.

Ascospores: Ellipsoid, (9)-10.8-12.4-(14) µm long, (4)-4.7-5.9-(7) µm wide; wall not ornamented.

Secondary Metabolites: Not detected.
