Biogeography: Colline and montane. Continent: Europe (No).

Ecology: Biotroph (youth parasite; matrix: Acarospora sp.); lichenicolous (youth parasite; matrix: Acarospora sp.); episubstratic; substrate metalliferous. Host or Phorophyte Taxonomy: Acarospora.

Thallus: Areolate (primarily areolate), continuous throughout; lobes angular at the front; separate thallus parts.2-.3 mm thick. Thallus Size and Differentiation: Large or small?; main branches basally not constricted. Thallus Outline: Margin concolorous the thallus centre. Upper Surface: Brownish yellow or brown, plane or convex; not sorediate; without thalloconidia thalloconidia.

Upper Cortex: Epicortex present. Medulla: Iodine reaction in Lugol's solution negative.

Ascocarps: Forming on the pro- or hypothallus, slightly constricted or strongly constricted at the base, 150-240 per cm², .35-.5-(.8) mm in diam.. Margin: Not flexuose, persistent, 40-60 µm wide, epruinose. Disk: Plane or weakly convex, black, epruinose, without an umbo. Exciple: Hyphae radiating outwards; 3-4 µm wide; grey (to pale beige-grey); inspersed with crystals. Epithecium: Apical cells olive, cell pigment reacting with 10% HCl (in H2O). Hymenium: 47-62 µm high; white; iodine reaction: Lugol’s positive. Subhymenium: 17-25 µm high; white or lemon (citrine). Hypothecium: Brown.

Ascospores: Ellipsoid or oblong, (7)-9-11.5-(13) µm long, (3.5)-3.7-4.9-(5) µm wide; wall not ornamented.

Secondary Metabolites: Present, gyrophoric acid or lecanoric acid.
