Biogeography: Alpine. Continent: Antarctica (continental Antarctica).

Ecology: Biotroph; lichenized; endosubstratic or episubstratic; substrate non-calciferous.

Thallus: Not subdivided parts, areolate (primarily areolate), continuous throughout to dispersed along the periphery, continuous in the centre to dispersed throughout and distinctly seperate; lobes angular to rounded at the front; separate thallus parts 0-1.2 mm thick. Thallus Size and Differentiation: Large; main branches basally not constricted to basally constricted. Thallus Outline: Margin concolorous the thallus centre. Upper Surface: White to lemon (citrine) to brownish yellow to grey to brown (beige), convoluted, plane to convex; not sorediate; without thalloconidia thalloconidia.

Upper Cortex: Epicortex present. Medulla: Iodine reaction in Lugol's solution negative.

Ascocarps: Soon sessile, slightly constricted to strongly constricted at the base, 4-150 per cm², .6-1.5-(2.1) mm in diam.. Margin: Not flexuose to slightly flexuose, excluded, 30-200 µm wide, epruinose. Disk: Plane to weakly convex to strongly convex, black, epruinose, pruina scarce, without an umbo. Exciple: Hyphae radiating outwards?; 2.5-4 µm wide; grey; not inspersed with crystals or inspersed with crystals. Epithecium: Apical cells green or turquoise, cell pigment HCl+ blue. Hymenium: 33-50 µm high; white or rarely pale green; iodine reaction: Lugol’s positive. Subhymenium: 15-40 µm high; white. Hypothecium: Brown.

Ascospores: Ellipsoid or oblong, (6)-8.1-10.2-(13) µm long, (2.5)-2.9-3.8-(5) µm wide; wall not ornamented.

Secondary Metabolites: Not detected or present, norstictic acid or stictic acid (traces).
