Ecology: Biotroph; lichenicolous; growing partially shaded or fully shaded; under conditions which are dry or moist. Host or Phorophyte Taxonomy: Dirina and Roccella.

Reproduction Strategy: With sexual (and possible asexual) stages. Ascocarps: Apothecioid, orbicular, linear, or stellate, forming inside the thallus or mycelium of the host, becoming adnate to soon sessile, not constricted or slightly constricted at the base, moderately abundant, .4-1.2 mm in diam.. Margin: Smooth, persistent, distinct, indistinct, or prominent, black or dark brown, slightly pruinose; with surface structures surface structures; external filaments absent. Disk: Plane or weakly convex; black or dark brown; fully exposed, pruinose, pruina scarce or abundant, white or pale grey. Exciple: Hyphae not easily discerned; carbonized; brownish red; inspersed with crystals. Amphithecium (thalline excipulum): Photobiont absent. Amphithecial Cortex: Absent. Episamma: With episamma; insoluble in KOH. Epithecium: With epithecium; apical cells slightly swollen, 3-4.5 µm wide, surrounded by a diffuse pigment, dark brown. Hymenium: 50-70-(85) µm high; white; iodine reaction: Lugol’s negative; hemiamyloid. Interascal Hyphae: Present, distinctly branched, distinctly anastomosed; cells 2-(2.5) µm wide. Subhymenium: 15-40 µm high; pale brown. Hypothecium: Brownish red; pigment homogenously distributed throughout.

Asci: Narrowly clavate; indistinctly stipitate, 50-75 µm long, 11-13 µm wide; tholus thickened, amyloid, hemiamyloid, in Lugol's Solution + light blue, with amyloid tube; dehiscence bitunicate; endoascus with a hemiamyloid inner layer.

Ascospores: c. 8 per ascus, oblong-obtuse, 12-17-(19) µm long, 3-4 µm wide, obtuse; septa present; 3-(5)-transversally septate; lumina apically enlarged, constricted at the centre; wall thin, laterally constricted where the septum meets the spore wall, becoming pigmented, hyaline or pale brown, not ornamented, indistinctly halonate, i.e., mucilaginous sheath absent or thin or distinctly halonate, i.e., with a thick mucilaginous sheath.
