Ascocarps: Soon sessile, not constricted or strongly constricted (older apothecia) at the base, 1-2.7 mm in diam.. Margin: Lecanorine, persistent, prominent. Disk: Slightly excavate, black (like tar). Amphithecium (thalline excipulum): Photobiont sparse. Epithecium: Apical cells brownish red (internal cap). Hypothecium: White to brownish yellow (in lower parts).
Ascospores: 12-15 µm long, 7-9 µm wide.
Conidia: Cylindrical.
