Ecology: Biotroph; lichenized or lichenicolous; substrate non-calciferous. Host or Phorophyte Taxonomy: Acarosporaceae, Lecanoraceae, Lecideaceae, and Rhizocarpaceae.

Thallus: Crustose, areolate (primarily areolate). Thallus Outline: Simple; soon disappearing. Upper Surface: Grey, dark grey-blue, grey-brown, or brownish yellow, matt; not sorediate. Lower Surface: Not rhizinate.

Reproduction Strategy: Only known as sterile, asexually reproducing form or with sexual (and possible asexual) stages. Ascocarps: Soon sessile, slightly constricted at the base, .3-1.2 mm in diam.. Margin: Persistent (usually), distinct or prominent. Disk: Plane or weakly convex, black. Exciple: Black, grey, green, brown, white, or brownish yellow. Parathecium (proper excipulum): Green or brown. Epithecium: Apical cells green or olive. Hypothecium: White.

Ascospores: 9-13-(14) µm long, (4)-5-7 µm wide.
