Thallus: Areolate (primarily areolate); separate thallus parts thin. Thallus Outline: Indistinct; soon disappearing. Upper Surface: Verrucose or verruculose, lime green or pale green, matt, smooth or rough, pulverulaceous; epruinose; sorediate; soralia yellow or grey, spreading, soredia coarse, (18)-20-25-30-(32) µm in diam..

Ascocarps: Soon sessile. Margin: Lecanorine, verrucose or verruculose, smooth or rough, not flexuose or slightly flexuose, persistent, prominent, concolourous with the surrounding thallus; without a thin rim between disk and thalline margin; sorediate. Disk: Plane, brownish red or brownish yellow, epruinose. Parathecium (proper excipulum): White, not inspersed with crystals. Amphithecium (thalline excipulum): Present; crystals dissolving in 10% KOH; photobiont abundant. Amphithecial Cortex: Present, indistinct, eucortical, 15-20-20-(25) µm wide, not basally widened, 15-20-20-(25) µm wide at the base; inspersed with oil droplets. Episamma: Soluble in KOH. Epithecium: Apical cells slightly swollen or distinctly swollen, hyaline or brownish red, soluble in 10% KOH. Hymenium: Not inspers. Hypothecium: White; not inspers.

Ascospores: c. 8 per ascus, broadly ellipsoid, (9)-9.5-10.5-11.5-(12) µm long, (6.5)-7-8-8.5 µm wide; wall thick, distinctly differentiated into primary and secondary wall, not ornamented.

Secondary Metabolites: Usnic acid and atranorin, of the following substance class(es): orcinol depsides, dibenzofurans [and usnic acids], and (tri-)terpenoids.
