Thallus: Not subdivided parts, rimose or areolate (primarily areolate); separate thallus parts thin. Thallus Outline: Indistinct; black. Upper Surface: Verruculose, pale grey or pale green, matt, smooth; epruinose; sorediate; soralia.5-.8-1 mm in diam., white, confluent, but not fusing, soredia farinose, 15-20-25 µm in diam..

Ascocarps: Soon sessile. Margin: Lecanorine, smooth, not flexuose or slightly flexuose, persistent, prominent, concolourous with the surrounding thallus; without a thin rim between disk and thalline margin. Disk: Plane to weakly convex, brownish yellow or pink (rosé), pruina abundant. Parathecium (proper excipulum): White, not inspersed with crystals. Amphithecium (thalline excipulum): Present; 70-95-115-(120) µm wide; crystals small, abundant, dissolving in 10% KOH; photobiont abundant. Amphithecial Cortex: Absent, indistinct, pseudocortical, (35)-45-55-70-(75) µm wide, not basally widened, (35)-45-55-70-(80) µm wide at the base; inspersed with oil droplets. Episamma: Soluble in KOH. Epithecium: Apical cells slightly swollen, hyaline, brownish red, or dark brown, soluble in 10% KOH. Hymenium: Not inspers. Hypothecium: White; not inspers.

Ascospores: c. 8 per ascus, ellipsoid or broadly ellipsoid, (12.5)-13-17.5-21 µm long, 7-9-11-(11.5) µm wide; wall thin, not ornamented.

Secondary Metabolites: Atranorin, usnic acid, and hopane-6a,22-diol, of the following substance class(es): orcinol depsides, dibenzofurans [and usnic acids], and (tri-)terpenoids.
