Biogeography: Continent: Europe.

Ecology: Lignicolous or corticolous.

Thallus: Not subdivided parts, rimose; separate thallus parts thin or thick. Thallus Outline: Indistinct; soon disappearing. Upper Surface: Pale grey or pale green, matt, smooth, pulverulaceous; epruinose; sorediate; soralia 2 mm in diam., white, confluent, but not fusing or spreading, soredia farinose, 15-20-25 µm in diam..

Ascocarps: Soon sessile. Margin: Lecanorine, smooth, not flexuose or slightly flexuose, persistent, indistinct or prominent, concolourous with the surrounding thallus; without a thin rim between disk and thalline margin. Disk: Plane, pink (rosé), pruina abundant. Parathecium (proper excipulum): White, not inspersed with crystals. Amphithecium (thalline excipulum): Present; 70-100-130 µm wide; crystals dissolving in 10% KOH; photobiont abundant. Amphithecial Cortex: Absent, indistinct, pseudocortical, 35-55-75-(80) µm wide, not basally widened, 35-55-75-(80) µm wide at the base; inspersed with oil droplets. Episamma: Soluble in KOH. Epithecium: Apical cells slightly swollen, hyaline or dark brown, soluble in 10% KOH. Hymenium: Not inspers. Hypothecium: White; not inspers.

Ascospores: c. 8 per ascus, ellipsoid or broadly ellipsoid, 9-11.5-14 µm long, 6-7-8 µm wide; wall thin, not ornamented.

Secondary Metabolites: Atranorin and protocetraric acid, of the following substance class(es): orcinol depsides and orcinol depsidones.

Spot Tests: Upper surface: C –, PD + orange.
