Thallus: Not subdivided parts; separate thallus parts thick. Thallus Outline: Lobed or arachnoid; white. Upper Surface: Pale grey or pale brown, matt, smooth, byssoid or pulverulaceous; epruinose; not sorediate.

Ascocarps: Soon sessile, not constricted or strongly constricted at the base. Margin: Lecanorine, smooth or rough, not flexuose or slightly flexuose, persistent, indistinct to prominent, concolourous with the surrounding thallus; without a thin rim between disk and thalline margin. Disk: Plane, brownish red or brown, epruinose. Parathecium (proper excipulum): White, not inspersed with crystals. Amphithecium (thalline excipulum): Present; crystals small, abundant, dissolving in 10% KOH; photobiont abundant. Amphithecial Cortex: Present, indistinct, eucortical, 20-30-35-(40) µm wide, basally widened, 30-55-75-(80) µm wide at the base; inspersed with oil droplets. Episamma: Without episamma. Epithecium: Apical cells not swollen or slightly swollen, brownish red, insoluble in 10% KOH. Hymenium: Oil inspersed. Hypothecium: White; not inspers.

Ascospores: c. 8 per ascus, ellipsoid, 14-17-20 µm long, (8)-8.5-9.5-11 µm wide; wall thin, not ornamented.

Pycnidia: Ovoid. Conidiophores: Vobis-type II. Conidia: Filiform; (14)-15-20-25-(27) µm long.

Secondary Metabolites: Atranorin and hopane-6a,22-diol, of the following substance class(es): orcinol depsides and (tri-)terpenoids.
