Thallus: Crustose, granular, rimose, or areolate (primarily areolate); separate thallus parts thin (0.3 - 1.3 mm). Thallus Outline: Persistent. Upper Surface: Verrucose, white or brownish yellow; special structures absent. Lower Surface: Special structures present:

Reproduction Strategy: With sexual (and possible asexual) stages. Ascocarps: Slightly constricted at the base, .3-.6 mm in diam.. Margin: Persistent (mostly), distinct to prominent. Disk: Plane, black, epruinose, without an umbo. Exciple: Black, green, or brown. Parathecium (proper excipulum): Dark green or dark dark brown. Amphithecium (thalline excipulum): Present; 20-30 µm wide. Epithecium: Apical cells distinctly swollen, black, brown, or olive. Hymenium: White. Hypothecium: White.

Ascospores: Ellipsoid, 10-10.1-13 µm long, 4.5-5.4-6 µm wide; septa absent.
