Ecology: Biotroph; lichenized.

Thallus: Crustose, granular or areolate (primarily areolate) (substipitate); separate thallus parts thin (up to 1 mm). Upper Surface: Red (sporadically; rusty), white, or grey-yellow.

Reproduction Strategy: With sexual (and possible asexual) stages. Ascocarps: Slightly constricted at the base, .2-.4 mm in diam.. Margin: Smooth, persistent (mostly), distinct. Disk: Plane, black, epruinose. Parathecium (proper excipulum): Dark brown. Amphithecium (thalline excipulum): Present; 20-40 µm wide. Epithecium: Apical cells distinctly swollen, turquoise. Hymenium: White or pale aeruginose. Hypothecium: Dark brown or white.

Ascospores: Ellipsoid or oblong-obtuse, 7-9.25-12 µm long, 3.5-4.3-5 µm wide.

Conidiomata: Immersed.

Conidia: Filiform; 16-26 µm long.

Secondary Metabolites: Norstictic acid (in one specimen detected).
