Reproduction Strategy: Only known as sterile, asexually reproducing form or with sexual (and possible asexual) stages. Ascocarps: Perithecioid, orbicular or irregular, forming all across the thallus surface, soon sessile. Margin: Prominent; external filaments present. Exciple: Black, red, or brown. Periphyses: Absent. Interascal Hyphae: Present, scarcely branched, not or scarcely anastomosed.

Asci: Tholus thickened, not amyloid or amyloid, with amyloid tube; dehiscence bitunicate.

Ascospores: c. 8 per ascus, oblong-obtuse or fusiform, 18-190 µm long, 2-20 µm wide, obtuse or aciculate; septa present; transversally septate or both transversally and longitudinally, 3-35-transversally septate; wall thin or thick, distinctly differentiated into primary and secondary wall, not thickened at the septum, not constricted where the septum meets the spore wall, hyaline, in Lugol's Solution negative, wall not ornamented.

Conidiomata: Absent resp. not observed or present.

Secondary Metabolites: Not detected.
