Reproduction Strategy: Only known as sterile, asexually reproducing form or with sexual (and possible asexual) stages. Ascocarps: Apothecioid, orbicular, becoming adnate to stipitate. Margin: Distinct to prominent; external filaments absent. Exciple: Brown, red, or violet. Periphyses: Absent. Epithecium: Apical cells brown, brownish yellow, red, or bluish red (= reddish blue, incl. violet, purple). Hymenium: Iodine reaction: Lugol’s positive, not hemiamyloid or hemiamyloid. Interascal Hyphae: Present, distinctly branched, not or scarcely anastomosed. Hypothecium: White, brownish yellow, or violet.

Asci: Tholus thickened, not amyloid; ocular chamber indistinct; dehiscence bitunicate or unitunicate; exoascus not amyloid, not hemiamyloid.

Ascospores: c. 4 to c. 8 per ascus, ellipsoid, 12-21 µm long, 4.5-7.5 µm wide, obtuse; septa present; transversally septate, 1-2-transversally septate; wall thick, distinctly differentiated into primary and secondary wall, not thickened at the septum, pale brown or dark brown, in Lugol's Solution negative, wall not ornamented or ornamented.

Conidiomata: Absent resp. not observed or present.

Secondary Metabolites: Not detected.
