Taxonomic Literature: Taxonomic notes: One character of the genus is the different chemistry of thallus an pruina of the apothecia. This can most times be seen macroscopically by the colours of the specimens. Marbach, B. 2000. Asci: Tholus thickened, amyloid, with non-amyloid wide axial body and divergent amyloid flanks towards apex; ocular chamber broad; dehiscence lecanoralean.
Ascospores: c. 8 to 12-16 per ascus, ellipsoid, (10)-18-19-20-(24) µm long, (0)-(ERROR: 4.54.5) 7-7.5-8-(9) µm wide, obtuse; septa present; transversally septate, 1-transversally septate, formed by the proper spore wall; wall thin, not thickened at the septum, not constricted where the septum meets the spore wall, dark brown or middle brown, in Lugol's Solution negative, wall not ornamented or ornamented.
Conidiomata: Absent resp. not observed (very difficult to find, because the colour (bright yellow) is difficult to on the thallus) or present; pycnidial; immersed to adnate.
Conidiogeneous Cells: Apical. Conidia: Bacilliform; microconidial, not branched; aseptate; cell wall hyaline.
