Reproduction Strategy: Only known as sterile, asexually reproducing form or with sexual (and possible asexual) stages. Ascocarps: Orbicular, irregular, or linear, forming all across the thallus surface, not emerging, soon sessile, stromatic. Margin: Indistinct to prominent. Exciple: Black, brown, white, or brownish yellow. Periphyses: Absent. Epithecium: Apical cells black, brown, hyaline, or brownish yellow. Hymenium: Iodine reaction: Lugol’s negative, not hemiamyloid. Interascal Hyphae: Present, scarcely branched, not or scarcely anastomosed. Hypothecium: Black, brown, white, or brownish yellow.

Asci: Tholus thickened, not amyloid; exoascus not amyloid, not hemiamyloid.

Ascospores: c. 8 per ascus, oblong-obtuse or oblong, 8-26 µm long, 4-8 µm wide, obtuse or aciculate; septa present; transversally septate, 3-7-transversally septate, formed by the endospore wall layer; wall thin, not thickened at the septum, dark brown or pale brown, in Lugol's Solution negative, wall not ornamented.

Conidiomata: Absent resp. not observed or present; pycnidial; formed all accross the thallus surface.

Conidia: Globose.
