Ascocarps: Apothecioid, orbicular, forming all across the thallus surface, soon sessile. Margin: Indistinct to distinct; external filaments absent. Exciple: White or brownish yellow. Periphyses: Absent. Epithecium: Apical cells hyaline. Interascal Hyphae: Present, scarcely branched, not or scarcely anastomosed to distinctly anastomosed. Hypothecium: White or brownish yellow.
Asci: Tholus thickened, amyloid, with non-amyloid wide axial body and divergent amyloid flanks towards apex or entirely amyloid throughout; dehiscence lecanoralean.
Ascospores: c. 8 per ascus, oblong, globose, or oblong-obtuse, 5-14.5 µm long, 1-3 µm wide, obtuse or aciculate; septa absent or present; transversally septate, 1-3-transversally septate; wall thin, not thickened at the septum, hyaline, in Lugol's Solution negative, wall not ornamented.
Conidiomata: Absent resp. not observed or present; pycnidial; sessile to stipitate, formed along the thallus periphery.
Conidiogeneous Cells: Apical. Conidia: Bacilliform.
Secondary Metabolites: Present, of the following substance class(es): ß-orcinol depsides, ß-orcinol depsidones, and dibenzofurans [and usnic acids].
