Reproduction Strategy: Only known as sterile, asexually reproducing form or with sexual (and possible asexual) stages. Ascocarps: Apothecioid or perithecioid, orbicular, forming all across the thallus surface, not emerging, becoming adnate to soon sessile. Margin: Indistinct to prominent; external filaments absent. Exciple: Black, brown, white, or brownish yellow. Periphyses: Present. Interascal Hyphae: Present, scarcely branched, not or scarcely anastomosed.

Ascospores: c. 4 to more than 32 per ascus, ellipsoid, broadly ellipsoid, oblong, allantoid, clavate, cylindrical, filiform, fusiform, oblong-obtuse, or ovoid, 21-74 µm long, 3-15 µm wide, obtuse or aciculate; septa absent or present; transversally septate or both transversally and longitudinally, 1-14-transversally septate; wall thin or thick, distinctly differentiated into primary and secondary wall, not thickened at the septum, hyaline, in Lugol's Solution negative, wall not ornamented.
