Ecology: Biotroph; lichenized; lignicolous or rarely corticolous.

Lichen Photobionts: Primary photobiont present; chlorococcal. Secondary photobiont absent.

Thallus: Crustose, areolate (primarily areolate). Upper Surface: Grey or yellowish brown; special structures absent or present:; not pseudocyphellate; eciliate; without hairs; not isidate; not sorediate or sorediate; not cephalodiate; not lobulate; without granules granules, without thalloconidia thalloconidia. Lower Surface: Attached by the whole lower surface; special structures absent.

Medulla: Iodine reaction in Lugol's solution negative.

Reproduction Strategy: Only known as sterile, asexually reproducing form or with sexual (and possible asexual) stages. Ascocarps: Apothecioid, orbicular, forming all across the thallus surface or directly at the thallus margin, soon sessile. Margin: Distinct. Exciple: Black or brown. Epithecium: Apical cells green or blackish brown. Hymenium: Iodine reaction: Lugol’s negative, not hemiamyloid. Interascal Hyphae: Present, scarcely branched or distinctly branched (sparingly), not or scarcely anastomosed. Hypothecium: Brown.

Asci: Tholus amyloid, with non-amyloid wide axial body and divergent amyloid flanks towards apex; dehiscence lecanoralean; exoascus euamyloid, not hemiamyloid.

Ascospores: c. 8 per ascus, ellipsoid, 6-13 µm long, 2.5-7 µm wide, obtuse; septa absent; wall hyaline, in Lugol's Solution negative.

Conidiomata: Present; pycnidial; sessile.

Conidiogeneous Cells: Apical. Conidia: Globose or ellipsoid; not branched; aseptate; cell wall hyaline.

Secondary Metabolites: Present, of the following substance class(es): ß-orcinol depsides.
