Thallus: Indistinct or crustose, not subdivided parts, granular. Upper Surface: Brown, green, grey, brownish yellow, olive, or red; special structures present:; pseudocyphellate; eciliate; without hairs; not isidate; not sorediate; not cephalodiate; not lobulate; without granules granules, without thalloconidia thalloconidia. Lower Surface: Attached by the whole lower surface; special structures absent.

Reproduction Strategy: Only known as sterile, asexually reproducing form or with sexual (and possible asexual) stages. Ascocarps: Perithecioid, orbicular, forming all across the thallus surface, not emerging, stromatic. Wall: Not carbonized, not fused. Margin: External filaments absent. Exciple: Black, brown, white, or brownish yellow. Periphyses: Absent. Interascal Hyphae: Present, distinctly anastomosed.

Asci: Tholus thickened, not amyloid; ocular chamber indistinct; dehiscence bitunicate.

Ascospores: c. 8 per ascus, oblong or fusiform, 75-120 µm long, 12-25 µm wide, obtuse; septa present; transversally septate, 1-transversally septate, formed by the proper spore wall; wall thin or thick, distinctly differentiated into primary and secondary wall, not thickened at the septum, laterally constricted where the septum meets the spore wall, hyaline, in Lugol's Solution negative, wall not ornamented or ornamented.

Conidiomata: Present or absent resp. not observed; pycnidial or campylidial; sessile, formed all accross the thallus surface.

Conidia: Globose.

Secondary Metabolites: Not detected or present, of the following substance class(es): (anthra-)quinones.
