Exciple: Black, red, violet, green, olive, or brown. Periphyses: Absent. Epithecium: Apical cells black, red, green, olive, brownish yellow, brown, or orange. Hymenium: Iodine reaction: Lugol’s negative, not hemiamyloid. Interascal Hyphae: Present, scarcely branched, not or scarcely anastomosed. Hypothecium: Red, violet, brown, or orange.

Asci: Tholus thickened, not amyloid; dehiscence unitunicate; exoascus not amyloid, not hemiamyloid.

Ascospores: c. 8 per ascus, ellipsoid or broadly ellipsoid, 5.5-14 µm long, 2-7 µm wide, obtuse or aciculate; septa absent or present; transversally septate, 1-transversally septate, formed by the proper spore wall; wall thin, not thickened at the septum, laterally constricted where the septum meets the spore wall, hyaline, in Lugol's Solution negative, wall not ornamented.

Conidiomata: Absent resp. not observed or present.
