Ascocarps: Perithecioid, orbicular, not emerging, stromatic (stromata pluriloculate). Margin: External filaments absent. Exciple: Black or brown. Periphyses: Absent. Hymenium: Iodine reaction: Lugol’s negative or Lugol’s positive, not hemiamyloid. Interascal Hyphae: Present, distinctly branched, distinctly anastomosed. Hypothecium: Black or brown.

Asci: Tholus thickened, not amyloid; dehiscence bitunicate; exoascus not amyloid, not hemiamyloid.

Ascospores: c. 8 per ascus, ellipsoid, fusiform, oblong-obtuse, ovoid, or curved, 18-36.5 µm long, 6-12 µm wide, obtuse or aciculate; septa present; transversally septate or both transversally and longitudinally, 3-transversally septate; wall thick, distinctly differentiated into primary and secondary wall, not thickened at the septum, dark brown to sub-hyaline to pale brown, in Lugol's Solution negative, wall not ornamented.

Conidiomata: Absent resp. not observed to present; pycnidial; immersed.

Conidiogeneous Cells: Apical. Conidia: Globose.

Secondary Metabolites: Not detected.
