Ecology: Biotroph; lichenized; corticolous.

Lichen Photobionts: Primary photobiont present; trentepohlioid. Secondary photobiont absent.

Thallus: Indistinct or crustose, not subdivided parts, granular or rimose. Upper Surface: Grey or white; special structures absent. Lower Surface: Attached by the whole lower surface; special structures absent.

Reproduction Strategy: Only known as sterile, asexually reproducing form or with sexual (and possible asexual) stages. Ascocarps: Orbicular, forming all across the thallus surface, soon sessile, stromatic. Margin: External filaments absent. Exciple: Black or brown. Periphyses: Absent. Interascal Hyphae: Present, distinctly branched, distinctly anastomosed.

Ascospores: c. 4 to c. 8 per ascus, oblong, 84-165 µm long, 21-55 µm wide, obtuse; septa present; both transversally and longitudinally, 2-40-transversally septate; wall thick, distinctly differentiated into primary and secondary wall, not thickened at the septum, hyaline, in Lugol's Solution negative, wall not ornamented.

Conidiomata: Absent resp. not observed or present.

Secondary Metabolites: Present, of the following substance class(es): orcinol depsides and dibenzofurans [and usnic acids].
