Reproduction Strategy: Only known as sterile, asexually reproducing form or with sexual (and possible asexual) stages. Ascocarps: Perithecioid, orbicular, not emerging, becoming adnate to soon sessile. Wall: Not carbonized, not fused. Margin: Prominent; external filaments absent or present. Exciple: Black, brown, white, or brownish yellow. Periphyses: Absent or present. Hymenium: Iodine reaction: Lugol’s negative, hemiamyloid. Interascal Hyphae: Absent or present (only in one species present), distinctly branched, not or scarcely anastomosed. Hypothecium: Black, brown, white, or brownish yellow.

Asci: Tholus thickened, not amyloid; ocular chamber indistinct; dehiscence bitunicate; exoascus not amyloid, not hemiamyloid.

Ascospores: c. 8 to 12-16 per ascus, broadly ellipsoid, ellipsoid, filiform, cylindrical, oblong-obtuse, ovoid, clavate (obclavate), oblong, curved, or fusiform, 4-60 µm long, 1.5-9 µm wide, obtuse or aciculate; septa present; transversally septate, 1-16-transversally septate, formed by the proper spore wall or endospore wall layer; wall thin, not thickened at the septum, not constricted where the septum meets the spore wall or laterally constricted where the septum meets the spore wall, hyaline or pale brown, in Lugol's Solution negative, wall not ornamented.

Conidiomata: Absent resp. not observed.

Secondary Metabolites: Not detected.
