Reproduction Strategy: Only known as sterile, asexually reproducing form or with sexual (and possible asexual) stages. Ascocarps: Perithecioid, orbicular, irregular, or linear, forming all across the thallus surface, not emerging, becoming adnate to soon sessile. Wall: With a carbonized black clypeus around the ostiole, not fused. Margin: Distinct to prominent; external filaments absent. Exciple: Black or brown. Periphyses: Absent. Hymenium: Iodine reaction: Lugol’s positive, not hemiamyloid. Interascal Hyphae: Present, scarcely branched to distinctly branched (only branched at the tips), not or scarcely anastomosed. Hypothecium: White.

Asci: Tholus thickened, not amyloid; ocular chamber indistinct or broad; dehiscence bitunicate; exoascus not amyloid, not hemiamyloid.

Ascospores: c. 8 per ascus, broadly ellipsoid, ellipsoid, or fusiform, 12-19 µm long, 5-10.5 µm wide, obtuse; septa present; transversally septate or both transversally and longitudinally (submuriform), 1-3-transversally septate, formed by the endospore wall layer; wall thin, thickened at the septum (thick endosporium), not constricted where the septum meets the spore wall, dark brown, in Lugol's Solution negative, wall not ornamented.

Conidiomata: Absent resp. not observed or present; pycnidial; immersed, formed all accross the thallus surface.

Conidiogeneous Cells: Apical. Conidia: Filiform or bacilliform; microconidial, not branched; aseptate; up to 0-septate; cell wall hyaline.

Secondary Metabolites: Not detected.
