Reproduction Strategy: Only known as sterile, asexually reproducing form or with sexual (and possible asexual) stages. Ascocarps: Apothecioid, orbicular, forming all across the thallus surface, soon sessile. Margin: Distinct or prominent. Exciple: Black or green. Epithecium: Apical cells black, green (blue-green to green-black), or brownish brown. Interascal Hyphae: Present. Hypothecium: White or brownish yellow.

Asci: Tholus thickened, amyloid, with non-amyloid narrow axial body and amyloid convergent flanks towards apex; dehiscence lecanoralean.

Ascospores: c. 8 per ascus, ellipsoid or oblong-obtuse, 8-14 µm long, 3.5-8 µm wide, obtuse; septa absent or present (rarely in old spores); transversally septate, 0-1-transversally septate; wall thin or thick, distinctly differentiated into primary and secondary wall, hyaline, not ornamented.

Conidiomata: Absent resp. not observed or present; pycnidial; immersed.

Conidia: Bacilliform.

Secondary Metabolites: Present, of the following substance class(es): ß-orcinol depsides, ß-orcinol depsidones, (higher) aliphatic acids, or dibenzofurans [and usnic acids].
