Ecology: Biotroph; phytopathogenic; growing on leaves, amphigenous. Host or Phorophyte Taxonomy: Salix fargesii Burkill; Salix, Salicaceae.

Reproduction Strategy: With sexual (and possible asexual) stages (mostly hypophyllous, sometimes also epiphyllous). Ascocarps: Cleistothecioid, orbicular (shape), forming independently from the host thallus or mycelium, scattered or in loose groups, (.155)-.2-.25-(.29) mm in diam.. Margin: External filaments present (width subequal throughout); uncinate (close), circinate, or sub-helicoid, .25-.5 µm long, 5-8 µm in diameter, hyaline, very numerous, 100-250 per mm², growing on the upper half of the ascocarp (subapical), stiff and straight (and straight, rarely curved to subnodulose; rather), smooth, thin, not ramified, aseptate.

Asci: 16-45 asci per ascocarp, distinctly stipitate, (70)-80-105-(120) µm long, (25)-30-40-(50) µm wide; dehiscence unitunicate.

Ascospores: c. 4 per ascus, spores 3-4-5 per ascus, subglobose, ellipsoid, or ovoid, (19)-23-28-(30.5) µm long, (12.5)-15-18 µm wide; septa absent.
