Ecology: Biotroph; phytopathogenic; growing on stems or leaves, amphigenous. Host or Phorophyte Taxonomy: Lythrum salicaria L.; Lythrum, Lythraceae.

Reproduction Strategy: With sexual (and possible asexual) stages. Ascocarps: Cleistothecioid, orbicular, forming independently from the host thallus or mycelium, gregarious (mostly), .075-.145-(.16) mm in diam.. Margin: External filaments present; interlaced with each other or interwoven with surrounding mycelium (usually), mycelioid, straight, .5-2.5-(3) µm long, 3.5-8 µm in diameter, pigmented (brownish or yellowish, paler upwards), numerous, growing all across the lower half of the ascocarp, thin, not ramified, irregular (seldom), septate.

Asci: 3-10 asci per ascocarp, not stipitate or indistinctly stipitate, 40-90 µm long, 30-45 µm wide; dehiscence unitunicate.

Ascospores: c. 4 to c. 8 per ascus, spores 3-6 per ascus, ellipsoid or ovoid, 16-23 µm long, 10-14 µm wide; septa absent; wall thin, remaining hyaline, hyaline.

Conidiomata: Present; hyphomycetous.

Conidiophores: Pseudoidium-type; not branched. Conidium Formation: Conidiogenous cells single. Conidia: Ellipsoid; macroconidial, not branched, 29-33 µm long, 13-15 µm wide; aseptate.
