Reproduction Strategy: With sexual (and possible asexual) stages. Ascocarps: Perithecioid, forming inside the thallus or mycelium of the host (arising in convex galls), not emerging, becoming adnate, 75-150 µm wide, with a black surface. Margin: 10-15 µm wide. Exciple: Dark brownish red. Periphyses: Absent. Interascal Hyphae: Present, distinctly branched, distinctly anastomosed; cells 2-3 µm wide.

Asci: Clavate (elongate), 45-55 µm long, 15-20 µm wide; dehiscence bitunicate.

Ascospores: Not uniseriate (distichously arranged), c. 8 per ascus, spores 8 per ascus, ellipsoid, 10-12-(13) µm long, 6.5-7.5-(8.5) µm wide, obtuse (broadly rounded); septa present; transversally septate, 1-transversally septate; lumina more or less of equal size; wall thin, becoming pigmented, middle brown (olivaceous), not ornamented.
