Wall: Not carbonized. Margin: Smooth, dark brown, inhomogenously pigmented; external filaments absent. Exciple: Hyphae radiating outwards (prosoplectenchymatous); 3-5 µm wide, 8-12 µm long; not carbonized; brown, dark brown, or pale brown. Periphyses: Absent. Hymenium: Iodine reaction: Lugols negative. Interascal Hyphae: Present, distinctly branched, distinctly anastomosed; cells 2-2.5-(3) µm wide. Hypothecium: White or pale brown.
Asci: Clavate (elongate-clavate) or sub-cylindrical, 100-150 µm long, 20-25 µm wide; tholus widening towards apex, not amyloid; ocular chamber absent or present; indistinct; dehiscence bitunicate; exoascus not amyloid.
Ascospores: Not uniseriate (distichous), c. 8 per ascus, spores 8 per ascus, broadly ellipsoid or ellipsoid, (23)-24.5-35 µm long, 10-15 µm wide, obtuse; septa present; sub-both transversally and longitudinally, 3-transversally septate, 1-2 longitudinal septa per transversal septum; lumina apically enlarged, constricted at the centre; wall thin, laterally constricted where the septum meets the spore wall, becoming pigmented, middle brown (golden), in Lugol's Solution negative, wall not ornamented.
