Nomenclature: Current taxonomic status: accepted or basionymous. Taxonomic rank: species. Cladonia. Cladoniaceae Zenker (1827).

Taxonomic Literature: Taxonomic notes: endemic to Queen Charlottes Islands. Brodo I.M. & Ahti T., Can. J. Bot. 74: 1147-1180 (1996).

Ecology: Terricolous; growing sun-exposed; substrate non-calciferous.

Thallus: Crustose, squamulose; lobes ascending; branches densely aggregated or scattered (rare); separate thallus parts 4-50 mm long; 1-5 mm wide. Primary Thallus: Persistent. Secondary Thallus: Absent or present, of determinate growth; stipe 5-10 mm high, .5-1.5 mm wide, lime green (same as upper surface of squamules), homogeneously coloured, corticate, with intact wall. Thallus Outline: Margin dissected (lobate to branched in the best developed squamules). Upper Surface: Areolated, lime green, smooth; not sorediate. Lower Surface: White, grey, or brown (greenish white (153), grey (265-266) at base, or entirely brown (77) to purplish violet (214)).

Lower Cortex: Absent or present (sometimes developing an algal layer).

Ascocarps: Forming along the margin of scyphi, sparse. Disk: Brown.

Conidiomata: Formed on margins of scyphi (scarce).

Secondary Metabolites: Fumarprotocetraric acid, atranorin, and protocetraric acid, of the following substance class(es): ß-orcinol depsidones.

Spot Tests: Upper surface: K – (negative) or + bright yellow (citrine, lemon), C –, PD + red.
