Ecology: Terricolous or lignicolous; growing sun-exposed or partially shaded; substrate non-calciferous.
Thallus: Crustose, squamulose; branches scattered, clustered, or densely aggregated. Primary Thallus: Evanescent. Secondary Thallus: Present, of indeterminate or of determinate growth; stipe 30-60-(100) mm high, .5-4 mm wide, grey-green, lime green, or brown (heavily pruinose over most of podetium), homogeneously coloured, mottled, or tainted brown, corticate, with intact wall, 35-40 µm thick. Upper Surface: Smooth.
Lower Cortex: Absent.
Ascocarps: Forming along the margin of scyphi, moderately abundant, 1-5 mm in diam.. Disk: Weakly convex to strongly convex; brown.
Conidiomata: Formed on margins of scyphi.
Secondary Metabolites: Atranorin, fumarprotocetraric acid, and protocetraric acid, of the following substance class(es): ß-orcinol depsides and ß-orcinol depsidones.
Spot Tests: Upper surface: K + bright yellow (citrine, lemon), C , PD + red.
