Ecology: Growing sun-exposed; under conditions which are dry (on mossy stump; very rare).
Thallus: Crustose; branches densely aggregated. Primary Thallus: Evanescent. Secondary Thallus: Present, of indeterminate growth; stipe 40-50-(100) mm high, .4-.7 mm wide, brown or grey (grey to greyish yellowish brown (60, 79-80)), mottled or tainted brown, with intact or perforated wall, 20-30 µm thick. Upper Surface: Verruculose, byssoid.
Reproduction Strategy: Only known as sterile, asexually reproducing form. Ascocarps: Sparse.
Conidiomata: Formed on podetia.
Pycnidia: With hyaline ostiolar gel.
Secondary Metabolites: Atranorin (at least in traces?), fumarprotocetraric acid, and protocetraric acid.
Spot Tests: Upper surface: K + bright yellow (citrine, lemon), PD + red.
